My internet connection's been on and off lately, so when I stopped by a cafe with my laptop Sunday night, the news I found waiting in my inbox probably had me even more surprised than the people who saw my immediate reaction to it (which, among other things, included laughing, crying, sitting on the floor with my hands covering my mouth in shock, clapping, belief, and giving thanks).  And sobbing when I called to tell my husband, who somehow showered, changed, rode the train downtown, and was ready to celebrate before I'd even closed the computer (this is kind of funny if you know him, since he's never late for a beer).  

Before celebrating in Downtown Salt Lake, though, I had gone through this palette of emotions and celebration, just sitting alone in that cafe with my computer. 

 It was this interesting experience of being in "cyberspace", but having my space within it feel more real, less "virtual". Many friends had heard the news before I did, and had sent notes letting me know how excited they were for me.  It felt like I'd walked into a surprise party where there was this joyful news awaiting me, alongside friends cheering me on and celebrating with me.  I decided that, for me, that moment in cyberspace was more like the space of the night sky, lit up by bright stars that I'd wished upon, holding the news of a big dream's arrival in wise silence.

Hi friends!  I'm so excited to share that "I'll Keep Tryin'" was just recently named a Top Five Winner in the Great American Song Contest.  I'm so grateful that this song that is so dear and true to me has been honored in this way.  Thank you, Great American Song Contest!!  

These past few weeks have been filled with excitement, travel, family, music, flowers, and friends. Folk Alliance, the final one in Memphis (at least for the foreseeable future), was an amazing extravaganza of music, community, learning, and reunions. After Folk Alliance, I had the pleasure of touring for the first time in the Tampa/St. Pete area of Florida. I had a wonderful time performing on the WMNF Live Music Showcase in Tampa and at The Hideaway Cafe in St. Pete. The following night I had the privilege of playing at Craig and Alexa's House Concert Series, Our Kind of Folk. These two immediately felt like long-lost relatives I never knew I had in Florida! I had so much fun, and was so honored to perform at this amazing series in their home that they opened to me so graciously. In just a couple days I will be heading back to Utah. This has been quite an amazing journey, and my gratitude overlaps with the gratitude I feel to be returning to my home and my husband, who says that I will be returning to some excellent spring skiing conditions. Thanks for stopping by my page- whether it is blooming or blustering in your corner of the world, I hope you are having a Happy March!

Hmm... So Marcel caught an image of me holding up 2 fingers, which to me looks like I'm expressing a wish for peace.  And I do wish for peace.  This isn't a gesture I would think of using to express it, but I love that Marcel snapped this photo at that moment.  
There's gotta be a word for capturing something like that in a photo; is there?

I had a wonderful gig at In The Woods on Saturday night- what a wonderful venue with great people who made Erik and I feel at home right away.  So much fun.  Yesterday was a wonderful afternoon, a cozy House Concert with our new friends in Ter Aar, full of wonderful people, good laughs, and connection through music... and on we go!
